Rogers High School will be hosting a pair of events today for seniors: An on-the-spot admissions event with Central Washington University and a FAFSA workshop.

Central Washington University is a public university in Ellensburg, a city about two hours from Puyallup, and admissions officers are visiting the school to host an on-the-spot-admissions event for seniors. This will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in room C-143.

These on-the-spot admissions are short interviews that will let you know within 30 minutes if you would be accepted into CWU. This may help with interviews skills, what not to do at an interview with colleges, and what colleges are looking for.

Students must have a 2.5 GPA or above and bring their laptop and unofficial transcript, and you must sign up. If you have any questions about admissions email CWU at [email protected] .

Rogers also is hosting a FAFSA workshop on that same day, in the library from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a free form you must fill out to get any financial aid from the government (grants or loans) for post-secondary education. States and colleges will use FAFSA to determine who and how much someone will get in financial aid based on family income and finances. FAFSA reps will come and talk to seniors about FAFSA and other ways to get financial support.

These events are for seniors only, and you don’t have to be in AVID or choosing to go to college in order to participate. AVID teacher Colleen Pancake is coordinating the events, so if you have any questions, please email her at [email protected]

These events will allow seniors with opportunities for college and financial aid with professionals during school hours. There will be more options that will hopefully help with decisions on which pathway you decide to head down.
