1. Snowflake Lane

Duration: November 25- December 24

Times: 7 P.M.

Cost: Free

Looking to escape the suburbs? Head to the city, or better yet, Snowflake Lane. The Bellevue Collection hosts their annual evening performances geared towards entertaining the entire family. Coined as their very own “holiday spectacular” live toy drummers, animated snow characters, and assorted holiday helpers parade the street between Bellevue Square, Lincoln Square, and Bellevue Place in Bellevue, WA. Packed with lights, snow, and holiday cheer- Snowflake Lane is the perfect evening getaway this holiday season.

2. Zoo Lights

Duration: November 25-January 1 (Closed Dec. 24)

Times: 5 P.M. – 9 P.M.

Cost: $10.00

Ready to take a walk on the wild side? Visit Point Defiance Zoo’s annual Zoo Lights.

As the advertisements promise- see the zoo like you’ve never seen it before. The acreage is transformed into a winter wonderland with over half a million lights. New installations to the traditional event include hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, carnivorous plants, a 30-foot-wide underwater landscape, polar bear family, and giant Pacific octopus. Aside from the twinkling lights, you’ll have the opportunity to ride a camel, enjoy holiday treats, ride the carousel, and even check out the gift shop.

3. Christmas Movies

Duration: All season long

Times: Any time

Cost: Free

Holiday shopping taking a toll on your bank account this year? Luckily not all holiday cheer has a price tag attached. Spend the night in- curl up with a cozy blanket, a cup of hot cocoa, and your favorite holiday flick. Netflix is littered with options to add to your winter watch list. But even those without a Netflix account can join in on the festive fun. Simply check your local television listings and tune in. From classic films like “A Christmas Story” to humorous holiday interpretations like “Elf” you won’t have to worry about finding something to watch this season.

4. North Pole Santa Pictures

Duration: November 12-December 23

Times: Hours vary by day

Cost: $5.00 Entry (Photo packages vary)

While the North Pole at the Fair is aimed to please the younger generations, attractions such as Santa’s House, the Elf Village, and even Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen are guaranteed to please visitors of any age. Bring a younger sibling to complete crafts and sing carols, or invite a group of friends to take the perfect squad pic, complete with Santa and all. North Pole at the Fair is held at, you guessed it, the Washington State Fair downtown Puyallup. Engage in the magic of the season, take home some new souvenirs, and help share some holiday cheer with the generations to come.

5. Fantasy Lights

Duration: November 24- January 1

Times: 5:30 P.M. – 9 P.M.

Cost: $14 per vehicle (Special Half Price Nights: December 5-7)

You don’t need to worry about hanging up your Christmas lights this year, Fantasy Lights has it covered for you. Hosted by Pierce County Parks and Recreation, “Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park” will be holding its 22nd annual drive-through light show. With nearly 300 elaborate displays and thousands of lights. The drive is approximately two-miles, along Spanaway Lake. Due to the popularity of the event, be sure to leave time for the lines. Weekdays tend to be your best bet- for a more relaxed experience.
