Losing Motivation?

When things in life become stressful, it can be tough to maintain motivation. Some people lose motivation because they dwell on a mistake, they stop believing in themselves, expect fast results, or fear failure more than the desire to succeed.

But there are several things that can help stay motivated through all of the setbacks and bumps along the way to success!

Staying organized is key when it comes to reaching goals and maintaining your success. Organization helps reduce becoming overwhelmed with things to do. Keeping a planner with sticky notes and priorities in order help a ton.

At the end of the week or end of the month if you complete major goals, “TREAT YOSELF”. Rewarding yourself after a certain time period can help keep your motivation and it’ll feel great knowing you completed some of your goals.

Even if you simply had a long week of work or kept up with going to the gym for an entire week, treating yourself to some ice cream or buying the shirt you really wanted is a great way to reward yourself.

Time management is also an important factor. Setting reminders on your phone or jotting things down in a planner will help you stay on schedule so you aren’t overwhelmed with things to do.

According to wikihow.com, “Everyone needs to see how they are keeping up with their goals if they want to stay motivated. If you see that you are on track or even excelling every time you check your progress, you will be motivated and happy that you are getting there. If you see that you are lagging on your goals, it may be the kick start you need to help get you back on track.” Keeping a journal to track your progress will help you stay motivated.

When asked how she stays motivated, senior Kylie Paine answered “I remember why I started in the first place and think about how far I’ve come and what barriers I had to break through. I also think of the end result and how accomplished I will feel when I complete the task”.

According to wikihow.com, “sometimes even the most determined people get overwhelmed. You may be burning yourself out, and a much-needed break might be just what you need.”

Taking breaks are important for your brain to relax. You don’t have to constantly be doing something because you will become more stressed and exhausted. Stretching out tasks throughout the day while taking breaks is a great way to stay relaxed.

Some people would rather get everything done at once and use the rest of the day to relax which is completely fine. Different methods work with different people and if you feel like you’re becoming stressed out with all of your tasks then frequent breaks may help.

Another thing to keep in mind is to not be so hard on yourself. “Everyone falls short sometimes. If you fail to meet your goals for the week, take it as a lesson. Try to complete your next target before time, so that you can use the saved time to complete the pending work. This way you stay right on schedule even if you have taken a hit. It’s not always about how hard you hit, but how well you can take a hard hit and keep moving on. Don’t dwell on failure; just accept it as a human occurrence, and continue working towards your goals” (wikihow.com).

These are just a couple methods to help keep yourself motivated. Remember to stay organized, set reminders, and not be too hard on yourself!
